The «Green Wagon, Train of Ecology» strengthens Veracruz’s smart reforestation efforts: Paty Lobeira de Yunes

#Veracruz, #Ver.- Continuing with the reforestation and environmental care activities, Mayor Patricia Lobeira de Yunes received a donation of 8 thousand plants and trees from Grupo Mexico and Transportes Ferrosur, which will be planted in the municipality.

During the event of the «Arrival of the Green Wagon, Train of Ecology» of Ferrosur, held at the old Railway Station on Montesinos Street, the Municipal President expressed her recognition and gratitude for this altruistic initiative that contributes to the improvement of the environment and the conformation of green cities in Mexico.

She pointed out that this donation adds to the actions that her administration is carrying out in environmental matters. «We have already planted 9,500 plants and trees through the Intelligent Reforestation Program that we are doing in conjunction with the Universidad Veracruzana.»

She also reported that through the «Landsat 8» satellite, thermal photographs of the city are taken to detect urban heat islands, which are the places where trees need to be planted to help mitigate the effects of climate change and lower the temperature of the city.
